Poodle Day isn’t all over-the-top Technicolor Dogs, Supermodels, and Sophisticates. Living in the Bay Area, I was thrilled to meet some counterculture poodles like myself. Beatniks with peace symbols, Tie Dye Hippies, Rastas, and even a Yoko Ono dog were all in attendance.
In honor of this incredible Beatnik poodle from British Columbia, complete with goatee, macrame collar, psychedelic mushroom, and peace symbol, I composed a Beatnik poem. Be sure to read it with a beat…beat…beat:
Howl
If my front paws
could reach and grasp
ecstatic for the stars
passing through the parade
of ears dyed neon like the neon
of our most private thoughts
posted on the internet.
Howl dogs.
Howl.
And run by the salty waves
free
now.

I felt right at home with all of these non-comformist poodles. It was just like walking down Telegraph Avenue in Berkeley!~
Tomorrow is our final coverage of Poodle Day, featuring the au naturels!
