As a member of the unofficial dog blog media, I observed the parade participants from my elevated stroller. It was the best seat in the house.
Pooches and People!
It was so fun to attend the Poodle Day 2015 Parade this year. Four months into recovery from my back surgery, I took my victory walk down the parade route dressed as Super Dog. It felt amazing.
I walked the parade as Super Dog. It was my victory lap after recovering from surgery! I have to say, I really enjoyed the applause.
Then, I took a seat in my stroller, so I could watch the rest of the poodles strut their stuff. I saw some really creative and beautiful poodle-ness out there. Below are some of the real stand-outs!

“Reporting on Poodle Day 2014 has been a real kick. It’s not often a dog blogger gets such a great scoop.”
Dogs! We’re finishing our Poodle Day 2014 coverage with a nod to the au naturel poodles. The color, glam and style are festive and fun…but poodles and doodles also look great in their natural state. So, today we celebrate the inherent, native, wild beauty of poodle-icious-ness.
“These two doodles are beautiful inside and out. They have a curly glow.”
“This hardcore Giant’s fan missed a game to be at Poodle Day.”
“I’m very lucky my fur is such a distinctive color. I love being a redhead.”
Four paws up and a wag goes to this au naturel poodle — check out her color. This red is on F-I-R-E! Wow and Woof!
This concludes our Poodle Day coverage for 2014. A big bark out to all of the amazing dogs who have pranced across the blog this week!
“I was very pleased to see Poodle Day includes a counterculture contingent. I just love the diversity of poodle-ness.”
Poodle Day isn’t all over-the-top Technicolor Dogs, Supermodels, and Sophisticates. Living in the Bay Area, I was thrilled to meet some counterculture poodles like myself. Beatniks with peace symbols, Tie Dye Hippies, Rastas, and even a Yoko Ono dog were all in attendance.
In honor of this incredible Beatnik poodle from British Columbia, complete with goatee, macrame collar, psychedelic mushroom, and peace symbol, I composed a Beatnik poem. Be sure to read it with a beat…beat…beat:
Howl
If my front paws
could reach and grasp
ecstatic for the stars
passing through the parade
of ears dyed neon like the neon
of our most private thoughts
posted on the internet.
Howl dogs.
Howl.
And run by the salty waves
free
now.

Groovy, baby.
I felt right at home with all of these non-comformist poodles. It was just like walking down Telegraph Avenue in Berkeley!~
Tomorrow is our final coverage of Poodle Day, featuring the au naturels!
“Covering Poodle Day in Carmel as part of the informal dog blog media was a real bark. I can’t get over the creativity.”
Next up from Poodle Day are “The Sophisticates.” Boas, bow ties, and bling…these dogs portray classic old world charm with their elegant and dapper style.
I would love to go to an after party with these poodles. I can see it now…fine dining from crystal dog bowls, dancing, and romance with style.
But not all poodles are of the posh set…tomorrow we feature the Poodle Day counterculture! Stay tuned.
“It is an amazing privilege to be able to report on Poodle Day. The entire event opened my eyes to the endless possibilities for poodle-tivity.”
Move over, Technicolor Poodles…today we check out the Poodle Day Haute Dogues. The poodle supermodels were out in full force this week in Carmel, hitting the runway and strutting their stuff.
Yes, the Poodle Day Runway was all glitz and glam. These dogs strut and pose with the best of them! And as you can see, the puparazzi went wild.
Thank you, Poodle Supermodels. Tomorrow I’ll be featuring the Poodle Day “Sophisticates.”

Dogs, dogs, dogs. The groomers ran amok at Poodle Day! I often blog about art created by dogs…but at Poodle Day, the groomers were the painters and the poodles the canvases. Here are some shots of my favorite Technicolor poodles.
Wow and Woof, Poodles!
.Thank you Technicolor Poodles! Tomorrow we’ll be featuring the Haute Dogues.
Dogs! I’m just back from Carmel, California, where I covered Poodle Day as part of the unofficial dog blog media. I have so much to bark about.
For now, I want to report I saw poodles done up in ways I never could have imagined. Looking back, I’m not sure whether I wanted to wag or run. Maybe a bit of both.
One thing is for sure: You haven’t seen Haute Dogues until you’ve seen the Poodle Day parade. It was like being dropped into a Technicolor Alternate Poodle Universe (TAPU). I felt a little out of place, being so small and au naturel. Anyway, stay tuned, and I’ll give you the scoop.
